M2 est un lieu situé dans l’iconique quartier du Panier à 5 min du Vieux-Port de Marseille et à deux pas du Mucem ; en rez-de-chaussée d’un immeuble construit par l’architecte Fernand Pouillon en 1948 et labellisé Patrimoine XXème.

Ce bâtiment s’inscrit dans le cadre de la reconstruction après-guerre du Vieux-Port, moderne par essence, l’architecte réinvente et réinterprète la tradition méditerranéenne. Fernand Pouillon adopte la pierre comme un composant industriel et crée des éléments de décor dans la pure tradition : claustras en céramique, moucharabiehs en bois, sculptures de Jean Amado d’esprit moderne archaïque, etc…)

L’opération est livrée presque en même temps que l’Unité d’habitation de Le Corbusier, avec un appartement témoin équipé de mobilier issu des ateliers de Jean Prouvé.

L’intérieur de ce duplex, a hébergé un temps, un atelier d’architecture. Son espace parfaitement conçu et pensé afin d’offrir une utilisation optimale des 2 niveaux et une immersion totale dans l’esprit du quartier, en profitant notamment de son espace extérieur disponible de plein pied avec le 1er niveau.

Enfin, un ensemble d’oeuvres contemporaines en céramique complète ce lieu associé à une sélection de mobilier pensé par de jeunes designers contemporains.

M2 is located in the iconic Panier district, 5 minutes from the Old Port of Marseille and a stone's throw from the Mucem; on the ground floor of a building constructed by the architect Fernand Pouillon in 1948 and labelled as a 20th century heritage site.

This building is part of the post-war reconstruction of the Old Port, modern in essence, the architect reinvents and reinterprets the Mediterranean tradition. Fernand Pouillon adopts stone as an industrial component and creates decorative elements in the pure tradition: ceramic claustras, wooden moucharabiehs, sculptures by Jean Amado in an archaic modern spirit, etc.)

The operation was delivered almost at the same time as Le Corbusier's Unité d'habitation, with a show flat equipped with furniture from Jean Prouvé's workshops.

The interior of this duplex was once home to an architectural studio. Its space has been perfectly designed and thought out in order to offer an optimal use of the two levels and a total immersion in the spirit of the district, by taking advantage of the outdoor space available on the same level as the first level.

Finally, a collection of contemporary ceramic works completes the space, along with a selection of furniture designed by young contemporary designers.
